Оверклокеры достигли 1000 к/с в DOOM Eternal

Когда игра DOOM Eternal была выпущена, разработчики заявили, что при наличии достаточно мощного компьютера, игру можно будет запустить даже на 1000 к/с. Это заявление id Software привело к челенджу под названием DOOM Eternal 1K, и оверклокеры приняли вызов. В ходе QuakeCon at Home польская команда оверклокеров x-kom сумела достичь заветной величины. Для этого она использовала процессор Intel i7-9700K частотой 6,6 ГГц на материнской плате ASUS Maximus XI APEX. Система имела 2 планки по 8 ГБ памяти HyperX Predator 4000 МГц CL19 и видеокарту ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti, которая работала на частоте 2,4 ГГц. Охлаждалось всё это жидким азотом. Сконфигурировав таким образом компьютер, оверклокеры сумели достичь в DOOM Eternal заветных 1000 к/с, продемонстрировав всем возможности движка id Tech 7.



Overclockers reach 1,000FPS in DOOM Eternal with LN2
When DOOM Eternal was still in development, id Software confirmed that the game could run at or above 1,000 FPS if played on powerful enough PC hardware. With that knowledge came the DOOM Eternal 1K challenge, and the driver for overclockers to create the first PC capable of running DOOM Eternal at 1,000 FPS.




As part of QuakeCon at Home, the Polish Overclocking Team x-kom took on the DOOM Eternal 1K challenge, overclocking both an Intel i7-9700K to 6.6GHz and an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti to 2.4GHz under liquid nitrogen cooling to complete the task.



In the video below, Piotr "Lipton" Szymanski and Marcin "Ryba" Rywak managed to play DOOM Eternal at 1,000 FPS, pushing the limits of DOOM Eternal's id Tech 7 engine.



x-kom have proven that DOOM Eternal's engine-level support for 1,000 FPS is more than theoretical. That said, it will be a long time before these framerates will be achievable outside the realms of LN2 overclocking.
